Managing onward referrals

Sometimes, following your hospital outpatient appointment or admission, you may need an onward referral to another outpatient clinic. Where this directly relates to the condition for which the original referral was made, or if you have an immediate need for investigation or treatment, this must be done by the hospital clinician. This should not be referred back to your general practitioner to do.
