In Times of Bereavement

We understand that there can be a lot to think about following the death of someone close to you. This page explains what happens next, the role of the Medical Examiner Office, and where you can find help and support.

After someone dies, there are a number of steps that need to take place before the death can be registered. Most of these are arranged between the GP practice, the Medical Examiner Office and the Register Office, and you will be guided through the process.

You do not usually need to contact the GP practice or come in to collect any paperwork. We will let you know if there is anything we need from you.
